Fortuna Entertainment Group N.V. comments on the agreement of its majority shareholder with Sazka
Amsterdam - Fortuna Entertainment Group N.V. (further „Fortuna“ or „the Company“), the leading Central European fixed-odds betting operator present on the markets of Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, provides a commentary in connection with the co-operation agreement between its majority shareholder, Penta Investment Group and Sazka which was announced today.
Fortuna Entertainment Group N.V. will further continue in the proprietary lottery project in the Czech Republic with the support of its majority owner. The launch of the project is expected during the course of this year.
Fortuna has set up its own management team for the lottery project and plans to enter the lottery segment through the scratch tickets in the first half of this year. The launch of the lottery itself is anticipated in the second half of 2011. The strategy of Fortuna is to target not only the existing clients of lottery games but primarily new customers. The aim is to create a market in the Czech Republic where the penetration in terms of the betting spend per capita is low compared with other countries (such as Slovakia or Hungary).
Fortuna is not a direct counterparty of the agreement between Penta Investment Group and Sazka. Negotiations about potential synergies with the lottery company will become material when Sazka becomes financially stable.
