Fortuna launches on-line betting in Poland

Fortuna zakłady bukmacherskie is the first bookmaker that will offer legal on-line betting services to the Polish clients. On January 24th, 2012 the company has been granted a license from the Ministry of Finance for offering fixed-odds bets via the Internet. Betting on the results of the favorite sports games on-line will be possible from January 25th when Fortuna is set to launch its offer.

Fortuna clients, who intend to use the on-line offer, can register via the website and create an account for internet betting purposes. To fulfill the registration process, each subscriber is to provide accurate and up-to-date personal details along with the ID number (by the PESEL number), enabling age verification. Each subscriber is entitled to registration one on-line account.

"Offering sports bets via the Internet is a key issue when it comes to the presence of Fortuna on the Polish market. For several years, Fortuna have been successfully providing on-line betting services in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. We expect great interest in this distribution channel among Polish customers. We believe, the Polish players, who from now on will be able to bet on-line with legal bookmakers will use this opportunity, thus will not be subject to fines for betting with bookmakers operating illegally" - says Jan Stefanek, CEO of Fortuna zakłady bukmacherskie.

Fortuna's offer remains the same - both at the betting points and on-line. Internet users will additionally have an opportunity to participate in LIVE bets, in which players bet in the course of the sporting events. LIVE betting are also available at selected Fortuna betting shops.

Payments related to on-line betting in Fortune service will be done through on-line transfers equally secured as e-bank transfers. Transactions will be made 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through accounts in all important banks in Poland.

„The most important advantage of on-line betting with Fortuna - apart from of betting in a convenient way and absolutely in line with law - is simplicity and guarantee of payment of any winnings. Additionally, unlike the foreign bookmakers, operating in Poland illegally - betting participants will be able to easily and effectively submit any complaints" - Jan Stefanek adds.

The amendment to the Polish Gambling Act, which enables Polish bookmakers, legally operating on the domestic market - such as Fortuna - to offer fixed-odds betting services on-line, came into force on July 14th, 2011. It allows to compete with foreign entities which are not paying taxes in Poland, as well as control and monitoring both illegal bookmakers and receiving winnings.
